On July 3, 2024
A few months ago, the doctoral working group was launched around three major axes: creating meetings with industry professionals, organizing days for doctoral students to discuss their theses, and establishing a newsletter.
On Wednesday, July 3, the 'Doctoral Days' axis was officially launched. Laboratory G-SCOP had the pleasure of welcoming several (future) doctoral students working on the central theme of this working group, providing a unique opportunity to share and discuss their research work.
A Day Rich in Exchanges
The program was designed to promote the exchange of ideas and practices among the PhD students. The morning was dedicated to the presentation of the participants and their thesis topics. Each doctoral student had the opportunity to introduce themselves and talk about their research through a short presentation. These interventions allowed everyone to discover each other's work and start building connections around common interests.
Interactive Sessions and Practical Demonstrations
The day continued with a visit to the various research platforms of the laboratory. A demonstration was notably conducted on how a case study was created on this technological platform to obtain research results for the thesis of Maxence DENU, a doctoral student in project Circular.
The afternoon was dedicated to a workshop to discuss the tools and methods useful in their thesis on circularity. It was an opportunity to discuss the specificities of these works, especially their multidisciplinary nature and the definition of key concepts. Discussions extended from the initial phase of the thesis to the post-thesis phase, addressing the professional aspirations of the participants, whether they aim for academia, industry, or entrepreneurship.
The mapping exercise resulting from these days is available here (only in French).
Upcoming Editions Expected in the Fall
The success of this first doctoral day is promising for future initiatives of the working group. By providing a space for sharing and support, these days help strengthen the doctoral community and prepare for the post-thesis period. More days are being organized with the aim of welcoming those doctoral students who could not attend the first edition.
